{Seven}

So my Australian blogging friend Katie from A Little Bird Told Me. So. tagged me and now I get to answer a few questions for you all. 7 to be exact. And can you believe they don't have graham crackers in Australia?! She just discovered s'mores when she visited the states. That makes me wonder what I'M missing here...

1. What book(s) are you currently reading right now?
The Bible- always. I started reading The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, yesterday. I'm already on page 275. VERY good. I've been working on The Book Thief, too. It's written beautifully. I love to read.

2. Whats your favourite song ever - or just right now?
This is so hard! I adore music. It's how I think. Let's see...I've been listening to Pink's new song, Glitter in the Air, a lot lately. I absolutely ADORE Ray LaMontagne and I just discovered (actually Cody discovered) that he did a cover (very unusual for him) of Gnarles Barkley's Crazy. It's so amazing! I guess those two are at the top of my usually extensive playlist.

3. Whats the best piece of advice (funny or sweet) that anyone has ever given you?
This question was actually hard for me. Sure, I've been given tons of advice... but usually not in advice format. You know... "to have good friends, be a good friend." It's usually in a lesson. I will say this, though. My mom gave me such good advice by way that she taught me things that everybody *should* know, but usually their mothers just assume they'll learn. For example, never ever ask someone if they're pregnant. If you get a present you don't like- pretend you love it anyway. It could hurt their feelings. When you go to a birthday party always make sure you make that whole day about them and be special, it's not about you.

And for funny (yet practical) she taught me to "pin in the middle and equalize the fullness." Thank you, mom! And my Gram tells me to "Pin, pin, pin! And press, press, press!"

4. What is the one place that you really want to visit that you haven't been to before?
I really want to go to Greece. This was supposed to be happening this fall... but my whole trip, Ethiopia and all, got canceled.  I love love love to travel and so hopefully this will be one that I can accomplish. And hopefully relatively soon in my life.

5. What is your most embarassing moment?
So I am a very very clumsy person. Every since I was a kid. I'm totally spacially impaired, running into things all the time, falling down...you get the point. First year of high school at a brand new school I was walking up the stairs to my class and I tripped UP the stairs. Extremely embarrassing at the moment. Unfortunately, this was not the only time it happened to me at school. Probably about 2 or 3 times a year all through high school. It was embarrassing every time. Then one day when I was a senior, just a few months from graduation I did it again... this poor sophmore boy watched it happening (I was the only one on the stairwell, and he the only in the hall). I just layed there where I fell laughing hystericallly at myself! "How can I be such an idiot! How long have I had these same feet? How long have I been walking this staircase?" The poor kid thought I was a total loony laying there laughing at myself. But at least I didn't care anymore.

6. What is one of your favourite family traditions you have?
This sounds super lame to say, but honestly I don't think my family has any traditions! I will say this, though. We love hosting parties! And I love that about us. People are always coming over for dinner (and let me just say that my mom is honestly the best cook I've ever known), and just lots of party-type things. We all get together for anybody's birthday and have a feast of their choice. I will always cherish that.

7. What is something fun and inspiring you have seen online lately and would like to share with us all?

This I just think is really fun. Found here

And this is extremely inspiring to me. I've been focusing on succulents as elements in floral design recently. This is beautiful. I'd like to make one.

And this quote:

"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
Plato

Wow. Isn't that so inspiring? I wish I were more kind.

  1. Ah! So interesting. I too love to read...will have to look up the books you mentioned.

My gf from Aus just arrived a couple of days ago, and we had this same graham cracker discussion yesterday. She's also crazy to try some Root Beer, ketchup chips, and Reese's Peanut Butter cups. She was also floored that we don't cook with pumpkin all the time.....like to eat with a roast beef. I told her my pumpkin comes from a can and ends up in pie.
