{Oh, Audrey}

Audrey Hepburn is the epitome of a lady. She represented class, elegance and charm. Now I am not one to idolize people, but I find this lady to be somewhat of a role model even to this day. She defied culture's demand to be perfect- although it may appear she was. She believed inner beauty was the most important of all, saying that "...happiest girls are the prettiest girls." She has said some truly beautiful things.I have found her response to a request for beauty tips to be astounding. Word to live by, really.

"For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness, For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people, For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry, For Beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day, For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others."

  1. Ahhhh, this is lovely! So this evening at story time my five year old daughter told me she didn't feel pretty when she looks in the mirror....she is FIVE years old. I want to know who taught her that, where did she get that, what is wrong with this world!! We had a long conversation and I am sure that I said things that went over her head as I went on and on about how she was perfectly and wonderfuly made, that she was the most beautiful girl in the whole world and she was the most pretty when she was kind to her sister, respectful to her father and loving to her our family dog. I am left this evening with a bit of a heavy heart and my thoughts are on how to live as a woman that reflects the words that I have said to her tonight as she will remember my actions more than my words. This quote is just what I needed. Thank you.
